Lahore Bangkok Beyond

In plain language

What this actually is

Lahore City College has a signed agreement with DPU, a private university in Bangkok, Thailand. Under that agreement, students begin their studies here in Gulberg and continue at DPU's campus in Bangkok.

The point is not simply to leave Pakistan. It is that you begin somewhere your family knows, with people they can meet, and you move abroad once you are older, further into your degree and travelling into a university that already has thousands of international students and a service team set up for them.

We say DPU throughout this website because the full Thai name is a mouthful. DPU is the same institution, and everything on this page refers to it.

Before you go further

Programme availability, intake timing and recognition wording are confirmed by our admissions team in writing during your consultation. We deliberately do not publish those details as marketing claims, because they change and because you deserve the current version rather than last year's.

Credibility

Who DPU is

Founded in 1968, DPU was among the first three universities in Thailand permitted to confer degrees. It is recognised by Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

  • • Awarded Excellence in Academic Quality Assurance by Thailand's Ministry of Education.
  • • The only university in Thailand with an IATA Authorised Training Centre.
  • • More than fifty active partnerships across eighteen countries.
  • • Around four hundred faculty members.

You do not have to take our word for any of this. The IATA listing in particular is public and searchable, and we would rather you checked it.

Before you graduate

A six-month internship is compulsory

Every final-year student at DPU completes a six-month internship. It is not optional and it is not a two-week placement to fill a certificate.

Students either find a placement themselves or are supported by their lecturers to place with industry partners. DPU students have interned with organisations including Royal Orchid Sheraton, Bangkok Marriott, The St Regis Bangkok, VISA and the Digital Government Committee.

That matters because you graduate with documented experience at a recognisable employer, in English, in an international workplace. That is the part of a CV that is hard to manufacture later.

Afterwards

What happens after you graduate

This is where most study abroad advertising becomes vague or dishonest, so here is the accurate version.

Staying in Thailand to look for work

Thailand introduced a post-study visa category that allows a foreign graduate of a bachelor's degree or higher to extend their stay for up to one year in order to look for work, to travel, or to apply for a different visa. The university can file that extension on the graduate's behalf.

Be clear about what this is

It is permission to stay in Thailand while you look. It is not a work permit and it is not a job offer. To actually work, a graduate needs an employer who sponsors the appropriate visa and a work permit through the Ministry of Labour. Students are also not permitted to work part time during their studies. Anyone telling you otherwise is not being straight with you.

Going further

A degree from an accredited university is processed through the normal international channels, and DPU holds partnerships across eighteen countries. Graduates continue to postgraduate study elsewhere, return to Pakistan, or build careers in the region. Every destination country sets its own entry requirements, so we will not pretend that one door opens all of them.

Proof

They came to Lahore.

This is not an arrangement made over email with an agent. DPU's team travelled to Lahore, both institutions signed, and the collaboration was announced publicly with press present.

The photographs on this page are from that day. The banner behind the panel says exactly what this route is.

Three questions about what you actually enjoy. No email required, no result withheld. You will get a direction and a reason, and you can ignore it if you disagree.

Question 1Which of these would you rather spend a day doing?

Straight answers

Questions people actually ask

Is Thailand a serious place to study, or is this a holiday destination?

It is a fair question, because most Pakistanis know Thailand as a place people visit rather than a place people study. DPU has been operating since 1968, has more than sixteen thousand students, and its international college teaches in English to students from more than twenty-five nationalities. Look at the campus photographs on this page and judge the environment for yourself, then come and ask us the harder questions in person.

How do I know this is not a scam?

Ask for evidence, and keep asking until you are satisfied. There is a signed agreement between two institutions. DPU's team came to Lahore and the announcement was made publicly with press present, and the photographs are on this page. Our campus is at 25-B, L Block, Gulberg III and you are welcome to walk in and meet the people who would handle your application. A consultant who cannot show you any of those things is a different proposition entirely.

Will the degree be recognised?

DPU is a university recognised by Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, which is the basis every international recognition process works from. Recognition procedures differ depending on what you intend to do afterwards and in which country. Our admissions team will give you the current position in writing during your consultation rather than a slogan on a web page, because this is exactly the sort of thing that should not be summarised into an advertisement.

What are the entry requirements?

In general terms you will need your school leaving certificate and transcripts, identification, and evidence of English ability. The exact requirement depends on which direction you choose and on your own academic history, which is why the consultation exists. Bring your documents, or photographs of them, and we can tell you where you stand in the same conversation.

What if I do not have an English test result?

That does not automatically rule you out. There are alternative routes to evidencing English, and DPU operates its own assessment process. Tell us what you have and we will tell you what is missing.

My visa application for another country was refused. Does that end this?

Not necessarily. A refusal by one country is a decision by that country, made against its own rules. A Thai student visa is a different application, to a different mission, assessed differently. We will not promise you an outcome, because nobody can promise a visa. What we will do is look at your situation honestly and tell you whether it is worth pursuing.

Can my child work while studying?

No. Students are not permitted to work part time during their studies in Thailand. We would rather tell you that now than have you discover it later. What does exist is a compulsory six-month internship in the final year, and a post-study visa that allows a graduate to remain for up to a year to look for work.

Is Bangkok safe for a Pakistani student?

Bangkok is a large, well-connected city with an established international student population, and DPU has a dedicated service team for international students covering arrival, accommodation and day-to-day support, along with a residence for international students. As with any city, sensible behaviour matters. If you want the practical detail, ask us during the consultation and we will go through it properly, including what to expect in the first month.

Is halal food available? Are there mosques?

Yes. Thailand has a long-established Muslim community numbering in the millions, Bangkok has mosques including historic ones, and halal-certified food is widely available across the city. We are compiling the specific detail near the DPU campus so we can give you names and locations rather than reassurance. Ask us for it and we will share what we have confirmed.

Why not just go to the UK, Australia or Canada directly?

You may well decide to. Those are established destinations and for some families they are the right answer. This route exists for people who want an international degree and international exposure while beginning at home, with an institution their family can visit, and with a university that has partnerships in eighteen countries for whatever comes after.

What language is teaching in?

The international college teaches in English, alongside students from more than twenty-five nationalities. Working in English for the duration of a degree, assessed by lecturers and later by an employer during your internship, is a different thing from listing English on a CV.

When can I start?

Intake timing is confirmed by admissions rather than published here, because dates move and we do not want you planning around a page that has gone stale. Contact us and we will tell you the next intake we can realistically get you into, along with the deadline you would need to work back from.

What does it cost?

Fees are discussed directly with your family rather than published as an advertisement, and we will give you the complete picture in writing, including the parts people usually forget such as living costs and travel. Scholarships are available and are awarded by DPU against their own criteria. Ask us in the consultation and you will get a straight answer with nothing hidden underneath it.

What happens in the free fifteen-minute consultation?

We ask what you have studied, what you enjoy, and what you want your working life to look like. We explain the route, the requirements, the documents and the timeline. If we think this is not right for you, we will say so, because a student who enrols into the wrong thing helps nobody. There is no obligation and nothing to pay.

The next step

Bring your questions. And your documents.

Fifteen minutes, free, no obligation. We will go through your qualifications, the direction that fits, the documents you need and what the timeline realistically looks like.

You will get the honest version, including the parts that are inconvenient.
